Re: Pet Peeves
(Anonymous) 2015-06-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)I've already seen two "YEA BUT THEM BIS/ACES/____SEXUALS ARE STILL SHAFTED BY THE MAN/SOCIETY!!" posts cross my dash.
Fuck that shit, yesterday was phenomenal and will go down in history. Don't piss on the gays because you're a salty fuck.

Be happy for a while, folks! I'm happy and proud about what happened yesterday. And while I'm not going to tell LGBT people that's how they should feel, since I am not one, I do think it's a positive step for our society as a whole and I'm going to choose to celebrate it.

And yes! Both is good. :)

Re: Pet Peeves
Well, you are. In fact, your post is an example of why some of us are making a point of talking about JOSHUA (which was announced on Thursday for fuck's sake), ENDA, suicides in our community, bathroom bills, and other stuff.
We can walk and chew gum. We can celebrate this and still be mad about that. There is no conflict between declaring Obergefell a national LGBT holiday, and confronting other forms of discrimination that Obergefell does not address.

But let other people have their space to continue to talk about things that are not Obergefell.

Be happy. I'm happy. But I'm not going to stop talking about what I have to deal with on Monday morning. If you don't want to participate in those discussions, you don't have to.
Re: Pet Peeves
I'm not sure what the point of the rest of your comment is since I even made a point of saying that it's important to recognize when a fight isn't over, and I definitely never said it was over. And I also never said you can't feel more than one emotion at once. My comment came from a place of seeing some people basically refusing to celebrate at all, which made me kind of sad, and isn't just unique to this event, but something I see a lot when major events happen - people can't just slow down and treat the event for what it was, happy or sad, even just for a day.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-28 01:01 am (UTC)(link)(and yeah, it IS important to point out that poor and non-white LGBT people face more problems than just not being able to get married, but gay marriage being allowed isn't exactly going to hurt them)
