Tumblr not allowing any victory EVER.

I've already seen two "YEA BUT THEM BIS/ACES/____SEXUALS ARE STILL SHAFTED BY THE MAN/SOCIETY!!" posts cross my dash.

Fuck that shit, yesterday was phenomenal and will go down in history. Don't piss on the gays because you're a salty fuck.

How do they even argue that. Bisexuals are now allowed to marry the same sex which is great. Aces can marry them too if they want, nobody is forcing them to have sex.

???

Because (a) there's this attitude that everything has to be perfect all at once and (b) saying shit like that allows you to feel morally and politically superior.

It's important to point out that The Fight Isn't Over, but I do wish people had let the joyful celebration be for a while first. I saw one post yesterday that was just felt like a killjoy post because there wasn't even an ounce of celebration in it, just a bunch of angry reminders that so much shit was still wrong.

Be happy for a while, folks! I'm happy and proud about what happened yesterday. And while I'm not going to tell LGBT people that's how they should feel, since I am not one, I do think it's a positive step for our society as a whole and I'm going to choose to celebrate it.

Yeah, it really bothers me how folks have acted like you can be happy OR you can be focused on future gains, and not both. Seriously, I'll take what victories I can! Eesh!

Yes! We live! Sorry, the past couple months had a lot of stuff go down, and I just didn't have the energy for online socializing. BUT WE RETURN!

Be happy for a while, folks! ... And while I'm not going to tell LGBT people that's how they should feel,...

Well, you are. In fact, your post is an example of why some of us are making a point of talking about JOSHUA (which was announced on Thursday for fuck's sake), ENDA, suicides in our community, bathroom bills, and other stuff.

We can walk and chew gum. We can celebrate this and still be mad about that. There is no conflict between declaring Obergefell a national LGBT holiday, and confronting other forms of discrimination that Obergefell does not address.

Oh come the fuck on. Can't I have a day to be happy that something is good? That I can now marry my girlfriend if I want? There are so many other days that I was sad/upset/hurt/mad about one thing or another, and I'm sure there will be many future days that I will be sad/upset/hurt/mad. Can't I have one day to be happy about something? Why do I have to "walk and chew gum", to "celebrate this and still be mad about that"? There are a million days in the future to do that. JFC.

Be happy. I'm happy.

But let other people have their space to continue to talk about things that are not Obergefell.

The whole point of this section is that some people think we SHOULDN'T walk and chew gum. They think we shouldn't be happy AT ALL because there's still work to be done. You know what? Fuck them, because I just don't have the energy to be fucking miserable every single fucking second of my life. I want to be able to experience some joy every now and fucking then instead of having to act like a dour wannabe martyr. There's just no point in living or fighting if we're never allowed to be happy, ever, even when we win a battle.

I see an equal number of people who say that we SHOULDN'T walk and chew gum, that we should shut up about things that are not Obergefell because you're celebrating.

Be happy. I'm happy. But I'm not going to stop talking about what I have to deal with on Monday morning. If you don't want to participate in those discussions, you don't have to.

uhmmm. "Folks" is a general statement for everybody. Not directed at any group in particular.

I'm not sure what the point of the rest of your comment is since I even made a point of saying that it's important to recognize when a fight isn't over, and I definitely never said it was over. And I also never said you can't feel more than one emotion at once. My comment came from a place of seeing some people basically refusing to celebrate at all, which made me kind of sad, and isn't just unique to this event, but something I see a lot when major events happen - people can't just slow down and treat the event for what it was, happy or sad, even just for a day.

Don't forget, only rich white people want to get married!

(and yeah, it IS important to point out that poor and non-white LGBT people face more problems than just not being able to get married, but gay marriage being allowed isn't exactly going to hurt them)

I think tumblr is piss all around. (On the other side of the snipe-fest, bisexual people are appropriating if we celebrate Obergefell, killjoys if we don't.)
