I am gonna guess....Jensen Ackles or Misha Collins.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would you guess that? I didn't think either one of them was in The Great Gatsby.

Good guesses, but...

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
since the pic is from the Great Gatsby movie, I'm guessing DiCaprio.

Jensen and Misha are still total DILFs!

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Please, both of those men are like a fine wine ♥

Yeah, I'm guessing Ackles. If only because he had such a boyish, beautiful face to begin with.

He is still good looking but not in that youthful servant of the gods, sort of way. He looks like a man now and not a boy.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Why does that make you a bad fan?

OP

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel like I should be attracted to him no matter what, because he's my favorite and such a lovely person. I feel shallow and like I'm being a bad fan by not loving as much when he's 'no longer young and beautiful'...

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering the picture, DiCaprio?

If it's him, I never found him attractive in the first place, but I feel like his acting is getting better the less attractive he gets, so I really don't mind. He's so good that I always enjoy watching him, no matter what he looks like.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore that someone is saying this about a man. Very pleasant turnabout.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't Manscriminate!

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel that way about Noel Fielding.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Noel's not as cute as he used to be, but I still love his face so much. Have you seen this video, with tons of flattering close up shots?

I would've said DiCaprio, except you said "on the show," and I don't think he's done much (any?) tv. "Once upon a time," though... Robert Carlyle? Except he was already 50-something when the pilot aired, so maybe not. Oh well, whoever it is, you'll always have their youthful hotness available onscreen, whatever they look like now.

I've always been into older actors (a former coworker of mine told me it was ok to like the younger, hotter guys because Robert Carlyle is my fav on once upon a time) and I've noticed that, too. I don't mind, though. I've noticed myself starting to get a bit of arm waddle lately, so it's not like I'm staying all that young and hot myself.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-29 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I am gonna guess The Young and the Restless. What do I win?

Meanwhile, Jeff Goldblum just keeps gettin' better and better goddam (might argue same for Peter Capaldi) Silver foxes are where it's at, I'm sure they'll cross the age line eventually but it's more gradual.

I remember some House fans getting rather mean about Robert Sean Leonard's aging. I always felt very defensive, like, hey, it even makes sense for his character to lose his boyish good looks. Wilson is a messed up guy and his life is a stressful mess. House was a hella unrealistic show, but at least most of its characters weren't Hollywood Beauties.

Nathan Fillion? His rapid weight gain has been getting worse for a while now, but his face has really started to droop a lot now too. He looks so old and flabby.

Hmm, my guess was going to be Leonardo as well (haven't seen him lately, though I still found him hot as hell a couple years ago. Not attracted to super young Leo...he was a bit too pretty for me) but you mentioned TV, so...

That's okay? You aren't required to be attracted to anyone and you like what you like. People age, there's no stopping it; sometimes they might not age in a way that appeals to you. *shrugs*

Personally, I think most people look better once they mature a bit. Gonna use Colin Firth as an example since I'm going through a Kingsman phase right now, but I find him way hotter now then when he played Mr. Darcy. (Not that he wasn't handsome back then...but I prefer his face now. The wrinkles suit him.)

Val Kilmer, Cary Elwes, and Alec Baldwin are my go-to examples of how age and dough-assedness eventually happens to us all.

...except the Rock. He gon' be swole til Steroid Jesus takes him.

I don't see anything wrong in acknowledging the truth - we all age and some of us not as well as others. It drives me crazy that some fans will get so incredibly defensive about it though. For example, Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver and Stargate) put on a lot of weight (originally medical condition) and has really aged. But dare mention that fact and his fangirls will blast you with their avowals of how incredibly HAWT he still is. Admit it, he's a cool guy but HAWT he's not. At least in the traditional sense, I can see still finding him attractive in a new and different way than when he was young. You don't have to think someone is super good looking to be a fan, you can be a fan of an ugly person even. Heaven forbid.

This has happened to me before, and it was when I realised how shallow being a fan is. Which is fine, it just sneaks up on you I think. When you first like someone, they can do no wrong and always look perfect in your eyes.
I think of it like this, if you marry someone, then were to go off them because they age, even though you are also aging, well that would be pretty unthinkable, and incredibly shallow. When it's an actor you like, it does underline that it is all just a shallow crush.
