random question

what does it mean to "get labs done" w/r/t being a patient at a hospital? tried google, it's not helping, i think the terms are too generic

Usually it means to get lab tests done on stuff like blood samples, urine samples, biopsies, etc.

Maybe, depending on what they think might be wrong with you or what they want to rule out. Urine isn't always a given, but blood tests are pretty basic.

+1

Plus virology, histology and cultures, depending on the particular facilities at that hospital.

Edit: As I commented below I totally forgot to mention that some hospitals will have DNA testing as part of their lab work. Those are usually specialized treatment centers like cancer clinics, where running microarrays for certain cancers is routine.

Likely the lab techs running tests like blood work, etc. (herpy answer this poor anon, I don't know what sorts of labs one might run at a hospital)

I did up there!

I actually forgot to mention that there are specific treatment facilities that have DNA labs and will run microarrays for patients. Those are generally specialized treatment centers like cancer clinics, though.

it usually means they'll be taking a blood sample from you. depending on the kinds of labs you may need to fast beforehand.
