On the one hand, I agree. I got into an argument with someone because they were gloating that Death Grips announced their breakup because "we have enough angry nihilism in the world" and very thinly veiled butthurt that Bjork "sullied" herself by featuring on their album. At the very least, it's rude.

On the other hand, if Game of Thrones were to be canceled, I'm not going to lie, I would take no end of glee in it. I'm aware of the hypocrisy, I just don't care. I can't fucking believe they made that show in the first place.

please. nbc kept community going for 5 seasons, their reputation for unfairly canceling shows is unwarranted. those low rated sitcoms they kept on for years would have been canceled on any other network, including HBO.

Could be they're resentful of other stuff. I remember childishly making fun of people for being upset about canceled shows a few years back because one of my friends had been stupid about it and I was annoyed with her for it, plus I was irritated that the fandom for my show sucked. Completely immature and I feel bad, but my point is, it's not necessarily personal.

Still nasty, though. Let people be upset and GTFO.

Yeah, I never understood this. Who gives a shit if Show X that you hate is still on the air? No one's forcing you to watch it, and its cancellation won't make it vanish from fandom. I have zero feelings about Hannibal and what little osmosis I've encountered has been pretty negative, but I was sorry to hear it got cancelled.

And don't give me the "now there's a free time slot" excuse. This isn't the damn 1990s.

(The exception, though, would be if I think a show is just going to keep getting worse and should be put out of its misery while people still enjoy it.)

Yeahhhh....it's not about not having access to what's airing. It's about there being a finite amount of time for networks to air things. Because let's face it, while straight-to-streaming series are becoming a thing, it's still reeaaaally young.

I don't like it either, but I try to shrug it off. There's so much negativity in fandom that I can't even find it surprising anymore; just about every single time I've liked a show that was canceled, someone got a kick out of it. At this point I'm just like

One day they too will feel this pain.

This secret reminds me of the overt glee from the gays when Looking was canceled, specifically those of the sjw variety. The fact that no channel in their right mind is going to fund a full-on gay project after that mess didn't seem to matter.

Same here. I'll freely admit, the petty, vindictive part of me always feels some smug satisfaction whenever a show that I dislike/annoys me (usually because it's of the fandom*oversaturation variety) is canned, but at the same time, I don't like being That Guy who rubs it in peoples' faces. Plus, I've got bigger fish to fry, so... yeah.

Wa Wa, go back to Tumblr and cry a little more.

A bit ashamed to say the day Stargate Universe was cancelled was one of the best days of my life. Not the best, but one of them. So in theory I know it's wrong but man did that feel good...

Stargate Universe is still one of my favorite shows ever. You've made me sad, random Internet person.

I get how that sucks when you happen to like the show being gloated over, but otoh I also get why people would celebrate. Especially if it's the fandom that gets to them more than the show itself, hell, I would party too if the show went off the air. Lack of new canon does tend to kill off significant portions of fandom eventually, at least enough for the annoyance factor to go way down, you can't see why people might be pleased with that? Yes it's petty. People can be petty, news at eleven.

I almost want SPN to get canceled so that the fandom can stop bitching about it.
