it's been out for ages, anyone who would actually care has seen it already

...This might be the stupidest comment I've ever read in my entire life.

And that's saying something.

Not every person who ever could care about a certain movie series manages to see it right as it comes out.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
...3 years is not right when it comes out.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 to this. if you haven't been bothered for 3 years, then guess what - somewhere out in the world, you may run into information! and learn something about a movie you haven't bothered to watch! since the world isn't going to protect you for over three years!

Well, yeah IA. But I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the statement that "everyone who would care has already seen it." Which is, no.

ayrt

but wasn't that anon referring to that particular spoiler? so, "it's been out for ages, anyone who would actually care has seen it already" because it's been three years since the movie. if it had been a movie that came out last week, i get your point - but i didn't take other-anon's comment to mean that at all.

or do i not understand you?

(Anonymous) 2015-07-02 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Uh...if someone hasn't bothered to see a particular movie in three years, I'd definitely say they don't care about it enough. I certainly don't think that idea is so crazy that it's the "stupidest thing you've ever heard".

Lol. How could they know whether or not they care about it if, for example, they haven't seen it or its predecessors? There are plenty of times when someone stumbles across a movie they hadn't heard of, or didn't think they'd be interested in, only to be pleasantly surprised and wind up loving it.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The "spoiler" in the comment doesn't even happen in the movie like anon implies it does.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
The spoiler that K knew J as a young boy? You weren't supposed to know that until the reveal at the end of the third movie.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't "know him as a young boy". To quote an anon below in the thread, hey met one time briefly

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
men in black isn't exactly revered for its story twists. no one cares.

Sure, but I was thinking more of the principle of the comment, not this particular context.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Jesus Christ dies and then he comes back.
Hamlet dies.
Romeo and Juliet die.
Gilgamesh loses the plant of youth to a snake.
In Planet of the Apes, the planet was Earth all along.
Luke and Leia are siblings.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You forgot to mention THE TITANIC SINKS.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-02 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
It was his sled.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-02 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
...and its name was Rosebud, am I right?
Whee for spoilers!
intrigueing: (buffy eww)

[personal profile] intrigueing 2015-07-02 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. Okay, lemme amend my previous comment to "within reason" XD

But that part of Planet Of The Apes always gets that song from The Simpsons stuck in my head:

"I hate every ape I see
From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z
But you'll never make a monkey out of me!
Oh my god, I was wrong!
It was earth all along!
You finally made a monkey
(Yes we finally made a monkey)
Yes you finally made a monkey out of meeeee!"
