I'm not referring to a particular pairing, but to people who dismiss slash as a whole supposedly due to the behavior of the shippers.

That's what gets on my nerves.

I can see how if you're in the MCU fandom, you could be turned off from Steve/Bucky by oversaturation of woobie!Bucky. Or shippers who keep screaming that the ship needs to be made canon.

But people who say they don't ship ANY slash pairings BECAUSE of slash shippers are, IMO, full of shit. If you don't like it, you don't like it, but don't pretend that slash fans are worse than other shippers.

But what if you don't ship any slash pairings because of the slash shippers, AND you don't ship any non-canon het pairings because of the het shippers as well? What if you dislike the behavior of all non-canon shippers?

I haven't noticed canon shippers' behavior being any better.

Because canon shippers can be just as bad. Have you seen some of their behavior towards "rival" characters? Or "rival" shippers?

Or when they berate people who don't ship their pairing as being racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, etc.

Sorry honey, but it's not bullshit. The fact is, slash shippers started this shit by going out of their way to bash the female character in canon het ships as a justification for breaking up that ship so that their slashy twoo luv can exist. And then bashing the actress in real life. And bashing the actor's wife because they want the actors to get together. And yes, I've seen that shit in het vs. het ship wars, too. The "berating" you see is canon shippers rightly calling out the bashers on the crap that they started spewing first. If you don't like it, then how about you clean up your own house? Call out the people in slash fandom who are pulling this garbage, make examples of them, and FORCE THEM OUT.

But you won't, will you? Just like all the other slash fans who have ever whined about those "mean nasty het fans" I've called out over the years. None of you have ever had the guts to stop the bad behavior you've started. Because you ARE one of those canon-ship bashing slash fans and you're butthurt over finally being called out on your crap. Bit long winded, but essentially ^THIS. OP is pissed they're getting called out, so now they're trying to deflect attention. So obvious. So desperate. Makes one wonder what else OP is trying to hide.

Guess what? Bashing a canon ship is NOT the same as bashing an actress or REAL people. I have NEVER bashed a real person. But the writing? Hell yeah, I'm gonna bash it! I love Scarlett Johansson. I love Mark Rufallo. Nor do I mind BruceNat. But Joss' writing? Absolute GARBAGE.

And HELL YES I will post about how awful I think it is -- how it came out of nowhere with no build up, how WHY Bruce likes Nat is never explained (they at least give a bullshit excuse of her liking him because he's not a fighter like all the other guys she knows). How there was MUCH more of a foundation for Science Bros. (Tony/Bruce) based on the first movie. How the romance ends up DOMINATING Nat's story when she has so many other WAY MORE INTERESTING things that could be done with her character. How it makes some pretty horrible suggestions about "being a monster" based on her lack of ability to have children. So YES I will bash it. I still love Nat and Bruce but NOT the way they were put together.

You NEED to get over yourself. It is NOT the job of slash fans to "call out" the bad behavior of others. Slash fandoms are ENORMOUS oftentimes.

Or do you expect Cloud/Tifa shippers to have spent their time hunting down anyone who ever said a negative thing about Aerith? Because that's BS.

Moreover, I've seen canon het shippers insult slash shippers in HORRIBLY misogynistic ways -- calling them perverts or deviants -- and they are NEVER called out by het fandom. I don't expect het fandom to do this because I'm not a moron and can recognize that you can't control other people's behavior. If you're even aware of it in the first place which, given how large fandom is, is certainly a possibility.

it's funny that het fans will constantly tell slash fans to 'clean up their own space' and to 'call bad fans out', which does happen btw but guess how many people actually listen to that, yet they never bother to do the same thing with their own spaces. because misogynistic behavior in het fandoms for some reason is totally a-okay.

I see that a lot more in het fans. Like, oh, Ginny fans insulting Hermione and Emma Watson, and Hermione fans doing the same right back.

There are a few bad eggs in the slash fandoms, but almost every canon het shipper I've met has a sense of entitlement the size of a small country. They ship the RIGHT pairing. They ship along with the CREATOR. They are the One True Pairing and are the only ones keeping everyone IC everyone else is AU trash.
