I think both companies have made good movies and some meh ones. I prefer Dreamworks' films when they're not overdoing it with the pop culture references like in Shrek and Shark Tale (although I think the first Shrek was OK in that regard. The subsequent movies just got too much) and they strike a good balance between humour and poignancy. So I'd say that their movies have gotten better in that respect. There are some Pixar movies that I don't love nearly as much as everybody else (ie: The Incredibles. I liked it, didn't love it) but I find Pixar is great at having little moments that are emotional and visually impactful even if the rest of the movie might not be my cup of tea.

Slightly OT, and I know this isn't going to happen but I wish Dreamworks would pull a PatF and throw out one last 2D movie because I thought their 2D animated films were gorgeous. I found them to be prettier than Disney's by juuust a bit.
