(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)Even if multiple houses are in the same corporate unit, it's still useful - and correct - to think about them as distinct creative units, if that's how they operate, which by all accounts they do.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 01:27 am (UTC)(link)I just think that even though they've made some real stinkers (the aforementioned Shark Tale), they've also made some really, really good films (like The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, How to Train Your Dragon).
While for Pixar, at best they're decent (Finding Nemo) while at worst they're awful (Cars). At least IMO.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 01:37 am (UTC)(link)It's worth noteing that most big Pixar fans (like me) hate Cars and Planes with a passion, so I don't think it's just you.
I don't hate Dreamworks, I guess it just kinda annoys me how they have the potential to make really good films like Megamind, El Dorado, and HTTYD, but they instead make crap like Shark Tale, Madagascar, and...pretty much everything else.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 01:45 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I agree -- it IS disappointing when Dreamworks makes crap like Shark Tale. But I tend to have a very "wait and see" approach with Dreamworks -- I go into it knowing I could come out LOVING or absolutely despising what they produce. I'm less a fan of the company than the individual movies.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-03 03:33 am (UTC)(link)The loss of potential with some of Dreamworks' films is a bit more egregious, imo.
