Sailor Moon.

But then again I only tried watching Crystal, and simply found the plot to be too slow. I'll buy some merch, because I do like the style, but the show itself is just not that interesting to me.

Crystal is a terrible way to get into Sailor Moon, I know some people like it but it's really not a good intro to the series. Crystal requires you already know Sailor Moon to be into it.

The original series has more content but I'd say it's a better intro. I'd try watching the movies then move on to S and if you like it finish it out in order.

Actually, that plot isn't slow at all, it's just the way Japan is airing it. 2 episodes every month. It's based more closely off the manga than the original anime.

The original show is good and a better intro. But if you want a faster plot, read the manga.

Watch the 90s series. Seriously. Crystal has bad pacing, a lot of really stupid changes to the plot compared to the manga, terrible animation even compared to the 90s anime, and the characters are horrifically flat.

The 90s anime is fairly slow paced and very monster-of-the-week, but imo it's a lot more engaging. Crystal's sort of all over the place as they jump at light speed through the overarching story and as a result the important plot points feel lackluster. All the build-up that lends it emotional weight is lacking.

I went into both series blind last year, and dropped Crystal after a few eps.
