Well, I can tell you why I like many Pixar movies.

While I do think there is some overhyping of Pixar - part of which may be due to nostalgia and their pioneering effects and Steve Jobs and part of which I think is due to those people that like to be on the bandwagon (you know, like those people who go to parties not because they want to go, but because they don't want to miss anything and they want to be seen) - but a lot of people really do like the movies.

I like many of the characters, I think they are very relatable. And there's a real sweetness to the films that I enjoy. I don't care for a couple of them (Cars, Ratatouille) and don't want to see a few others, but I do like a great many of their feature-length films and most of their short films (even the scary baby one). I felt sorry for a lamp after it popped a ball.

If it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work for you, but a lot of people do genuinely enjoy Pixar films.
