What the title says. There's one of these on /co/ atm and I was inspired to make one here. Imbedded pics or links are best.

Mine are Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Slappy from the Night of the Living Dummy Goosebump books, and idk what it was called, but there was this cover for this cartoon movie and the image on it would creep me out as a kid, I would only see it at this one Albertson's (it's a grocery store) when they still had the video rental area in the front.

Are You Afraid of The Dark, particularly the opening sequence. Not gonna lie, that opening sequence still gives me the creeps to this day.

The Crypt Keeper, though I love him now. He's not scary at all.

The puppets from the Puppet Master novies, especially Blade, Leech Woman, and Tunneler.

Came here to say Are You Afraid of the Dark, very pleased that it was mentioned and first to boot. That opening scared the shit out of me!

It's the first thing that comes to mind whenever this topic comes up. I had to leave the room whenever the opening sequence came on, it creeped me out so bad!

High-five for Groke fear. She traumatized a generation.

One episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark" when there was an evil monster in the pool. I couldn't go near pool covers for years, after that.

I remember that one too. I was even afraid of the shower and sink in the bathroom.

Two things from the Moomins:
- The Groke, I think a lot of it was because of the music that played whenever she appeared (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_u9JJjWRp8), but I started bawling each time and I had to be carried out of the room. I'm a lot more sympathetic towards her as an adult. She's just lonely.
- The Ice(/snow) Queen: she doesn't look scary, but she froze people. I still get the creeps whenever people get frozen solid in anything. No sympathy for her.

Rocky Horror Picture Show. Scarred me for life.

E.T., which was unfortunate since my sister went through a phase where she would only watch that movie. That little alien still creeps me out.

The goblins in The Labyrinth used to scare me as a kid, I just found that first scene of them when they're all bunched up really creepy.

Sharks, I was afraid of sharks for the longest time and I still don't really know why, but now I think they're cool and kind of cute tbh.

Oh and for a completely ridiculous one, the Puttergiest from the Addams Family cartoon, I don't understand this fear at all but he scared the shit out of me as a kid and I was convinced he'd come into my room and kill me for years.

Earnest: Scared Stupid. I saw it twice and never made it through the whole movie. It sparked my fear of the woods and I still refuse to watch it even though I KNOW it's a stupid movie.

The opening theme songs of Unsolved Mysteries and the X-Files.

+1 On the opening for Unsolved Mysteries. I love the theme now, but it scared me as kid.

The box covers for horror movies. I remember seeing one on the movie shelf at a store that mostly sold records. It was called The Surgeon, and it showed a rotting severed head stuffed into an IV bag. It was pretty memorable.

Also, I remember being seriously creeped out by the clown nightmare in The Brave Little Toaster.

The pink elephants scene from Dumbo.
The donkey transformations in Pinocchio.
The tunnel sequence in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory(Gene Wilder version).
The costumed Disney characters at Disneyland, ie Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc.

The facemelt scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

"Poltergeist"! I didn't like it when the closet door wasn't shut at night. I also didn't like the face-ripping bathroom scene.
Also "Nightmare On Elm Street". Freddy Krueger shows up in dreams, making bedtime a bit scary. Had to pull blankets over my head. If they can't see me they can't get me. Don't ask, I was 10 at the time. Slightly immature, slightly afraid of the dark. Took me decades to begin watching horror films w/o problems! But I got over it and YOU CAN TOO! ;)

The Clown episode from Are You Afraid of the Dark? AND the Nosferatu one. Both episodes freaked me out like whoa.

Then this one episode of the Outer Limits about a house that ate people...
