Yeah, the fact that they're more obsessed with each other than ever is super intriguing to me. Romantic or not, and as ridiculously fucked up as it is either way, I totally love their relationship.

After what happened last season I seriously thought Will was going to be less...fond of Hannibal, but despite some anger he's (obviously rightly) carrying with him, he's still obsessed. (Like you say, more than ever.)

And he was so wistful at the start of the season about 'what could have been' that I can't find it anything but incredibly fascinating.

Poor Will is fucked up beyond belief but it's kind of delicious.

Plus, we basically got a love confession from Hannibal, so that was fun.

Oh, this weird show.

Seriously, like, this ship is everything I like. I love creepy. I love unhealthy obsessions. I love villains corrupting heroes. I hate how romanticized it sometimes gets in fics because that seems to be misssing the point and what is actually fun about the ship.

I tried to read a couple fics for it, but apparently me and the fandom don't have much in common when it comes to why we like this pairing! I just couldn't really find anything I liked, which was sort of disappointing (though I didn't dig very deep, to be fair).

I agree, actually. There is so little in the fandom that I actually like. It is depressing and I wonder if we've actually been watching the same show. What about Hannibal/Will actually strikes anyone as being romantic?

It's actually somewhat rare that I ship a pairing this unhealthy but something about it works for me. It feels natural in canon, you know? The writing is good, the acting and chemistry are great, and the execution is just solid. It's a perfect combination of things that interest me when done right and in a way that is self-aware. I like that about the pairing too...the show isn't trying to make Hannibal out as some sort of hero, and it readily says that this relationship is wrong. Will himself realizes it, too.

As for the fandom side of things, I haven't read fic, but I do find the fandoms sense of humor to be pretty golden.
