Slightly OT: Labyrinth and JS&MN

Slightly off topic, but -- the JS & MN wiki has a picture of the ballroom scene from Labyrinth at the bottom of the entry for the Gentleman with Thistledown Hair that somewhat suggests that he was based on Jareth (and certainly the Gentleman does love to dance. :p)

Anyone know if this is true?

IDK if so, but I suspect JKR was a big fan of Labyrinth because the early HP books have quite a few shout-outs to it. Like the way Sarah gets through one of her obstacles by solving a logic puzzle, and passes another one by walking through the wall, a la Platform 9 and 3/4. I thought that Sir Cadogan owed a lot to Sir Didymus. And at one point Jareth even calls Hoggle "Hogwart."

You may have something about the wall-phasing (I'm sure someone somewhere's written a thesis on liminality and liminal spaces), though the puzzle/riddle-solving thing as part of the hero's journey goes back at least a few thousand years.
