This doesn't look like the most serious post either. I mean there's word of god, and then there's flippant word of god. I mean shit, the dumb stuff that would be canon if we assumed every comment authors made should be given equal weight...

How does it directly contradict the show?

Yes, I'm confused about this as well.

I don't think there's many who actually think that, but the ones who do make more interesting noise.

I don't know, there is the whole queer theme throughout the series. Even the characters who aren't in gay relationships still seem to participate in queer narrative.

And then there's like, the orgy scene... idk. I could read them all as a little bit bi. Or at very least, I don't think it would be out of place to have that possibility, strong queer vibes considering. (especially with each other.)

But only a couple of the characters in the orgy scene are 'actually' having sex, the others just 'feel' it, right? (I guess technically you could say they are involved... I don't know, this hurts my brain and I'm going to stop thinking about it.)

Either way I wouldn't take the tweet seriously.

I think they're all having some sort of psychic sex with each other. If they were just feeling it/'visiting'/whatever, I think the visuals would've been more along the lines of everyone having sex with Amanita and Hernando

Hmm, you might be right. That scene wasn't perfectly clear to me. I guess the fact that Capheus wasn't involved in the 'orgy' strengthens your theory, because he was pretty "what and ew" after the fact... maybe the others were into it so they somehow consented to psychic sex.

Oh, this crazy show.

The scene is definitely not clear, although I saw it out of order. (My fiancee started watching the show, and would keep calling me over with "OMG YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS" for several scenes, including this one). I'm on ep 4 or 5, and the impression I'm getting from the sensates is that while I might not say they're pansexual outside the cluster -- it also would not surprise me if the others within their cluster were an "exception", just by virtue of how damned close you would have to be in that sort of situation. I mean, "exceptions" happen to real-life gay and lesbian people I know, so in a SF show with telepathy and all that, it would seem plausible to me.

When it comes to "word of God" I don't think actors' opinions amount to shit anyway, unless they had an unusual amount of influence over the writing or there's a lot to suggest they discussed this aspect with the actual creators. I find it almost childish how much of fandom thinks otherwise (like we're still living in la la land where actors aren't just acting) to be honest about my snobbery.

But Lana would be the co creator, right? Not an actor.

True, but OP seems to think a second-hand tweet doesn't really count; I would put it more in the category of something the creator probably said but was potentially a tongue-in-cheek conversation, personally.

The author is dead.

I made sure of that.
