Do you wear parfume?

Re: Fragrance

(Anonymous) 2015-07-09 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)

i swear it's my girl magnet.

I have a chemical sensitivity, so I can't wear perfume.

Re: Fragrance

Are you ok with others wearing it?

Sometimes. I tend to gravitate towards more subtle and fruity things. Flowery things and strong perfumes make me sneezy. My favorite perfume is DNKY Be Delicious (the original, not the newer one). I also have a mango body spray that I like.

Perfume always smells too strong to me. I don't wear it myself, and I'm not too fond of people wearing it around me. It could just be that most people I bump into spray it on too strongly, I suppose, or prefer strong to subtle perfumes, but even a dab on my own wrist smells a bit powerful to me. I don't know, it just smells wrong.

Which is a shame, because I love the idea of perfume, the kind of alchemy and romance and history to it. It seems very sensual and somewhat magical in theory. I guess I'm just overly sensitive to it in practice.

I think a lot of people do wear it really heavy. I also find most perfumes too strong. I pick something really subtle and then just one spray on one wrist spread to both and one neck spray.

Maybe try body spray? It is usually a lighter scent than perfume.

No, and I can't stand people who do. It seems so outdated and infringe-y on other people's space. Most people put too much on and it stinks. And then you get stuck in the elevator with them. Or they decide to put it on in the office bathroom and you think you're going to choke when you walk in.

So no, no perfume. And all most of you perfume-wearers kind of suck, tbh.

No, because I don't want to accidentally trigger someone's life threatening allergy to scents.

Edit: I do own a bottle of Versace Blue Jeans though, and have worn it out to places that aren't enclosed spaces where I might risk causing a problem for someone.

"Research has demonstrated that it is impossible for an allergic event to be triggered through the use of perfume by a third party in proximity to a susceptible individual. The pertinent study, conducted by the German Federal Environment Agency [Bundesumweltamt], concluded that the mere act of inhaling potential contact allergens did not, in fact, result in the development of allergic symptoms by the test subjects."

Celliacs don't get symptoms by breathing in bakery smells.

I wear some cologne sometimes, which you might consider the same thing, but perfume is the stronger more concentrated stuff. I usually go with the lighter scents, if I use it, which is rarely.

However, almost all my hand lotions and shampoos are scented, so there's that. And also my laundry detergent.

I put perfume on sometimes if I'm going out in the evening, say for a birthday meal or to meet up with friends in a pub/restaurant, but the rest of the time I'll just use deodorant and some body spray and leave it at that.

Re: Fragrance

(Anonymous) 2015-07-10 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
No and I tend to use fragrance free deodorants, lotions and detergents. The scented versions usually smell too chemical for my taste.

I love fragrances. There are a bunch of different ones that I cycle through. I like trying fragrances from both large brands and small independent perfumers.

Right now I'm wearing Tobacco&Leather by For Strange Women.

I sometimes wear Heat by Beyonce, but only because when I was working in the jewelry department I used to test out the samples and people started complimenting me when I tried out Heat a few times.

Guess it smells nice on me?

Re: Fragrance

I'm a woman and dress pretty stereotypically feminine, but I just never got into perfumes. The smells are just so... chemical? And strong perfumes/colognes are the WORST. They make me gag. I guess the milder ones are okay, but I can't imagine spending money on them. Especially since they can be so expensive! I never got the point.

Re: Fragrance

(Anonymous) 2015-07-10 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm your opposite. I don't dress stereotypically feminine at all, I haven't worn a skirt in seven months and can't remember the last time I wore a dress but I love perfume. I'm wearing Charlie today. And there are places to buy inexpensive but nice-smelling perfumes, especially essential oils and imitations of the pricier stuff.

I use traditional bay rum aftershave, with occasionally a LITTLE dab of Black Phoenix's "Mastermind" on my neck/chest, when I want to smell especially nice for someone.

Yes, but most fade on me within half an hour. I like rose scents, sandalwood and musk scents, and my favorite is Tabu.

I want a vial of the psychoactive stuff, But I don't think I'd wear it vary often.

Only on rare occasions. I like the idea of perfume but find most to be way too strong. I would rather smell like nothing than have people think I smell terrible, you know? And then there's people who have allergies...

Plus, I have eczema and most the stuff I use (soap, facial wash) doesn't have a strong scent anyway. Some of the real strong, delicious smelling stuff is the worst for my skin.

I do like the smell of (some of) it, but I also don't want to deal with the expense either. I spend enough on makeup, lol. (Not so much on individual products, but it adds up!)

Yeah. It's going to run out soon and my mum bought it for me in bali so I can't read it to get more. Guess I'll go perfume hunting soon!

I prefer light neutral scents. Hints of wood and earthy but not too fruity or artificial

Perfume? Most days, no. If I can find a tea rose scented perfume, I might, but I end up diluting it.

no, but I like to wear nice-smelling lotions when I dress up :)

I have got some perfume from Next, so it's nothing fancy. I don't wear it very often, but it's sweet and floral.

My bestie wears Circus by Brittany Spears and I swear it doesn't smell right on anyone else but her. It's almost become a pavlovian thing for me that if I smell it, I assume she's around.
