The MegaBus from NYC to DC is good! It drops you off at Union Station, so you're by the Metro.

For stuff to do in DC, I love the American Indian Museum, and don't listen to anyone who says it's lame. It's got a great exhibits and an excellent cafeteria (fry bread. FRY BREAD!)

Huh! Never heard of that. How clean and safe is it? Can you bring luggage?

NAYRT but I've also taken the Megabus (albeit on different routes) and in my experience it's very clean and safe, and also fairly convenient and cheap. I think it helps that you can only order tickets online.

You can bring luggage, but IIRC it's limited to one bag in the luggage compartment and one small carry-on.

AYRT: I can't remember the luggage limits (I've only ever taken it for weekend trips when I only had a duffle), but my experiences have all been good and I always felt safe.
