The only important question to ask is:

Has Moffat finished yet? B/c I won't even give NuWho a chance till he's done like dinner. Not that I was ever a great fan of NuWho under either showrunner...but I much preferred stuff like some of Donna/Ten, and as far as the only episode I saw with Clara (when she was inside the Dalek), the character wasn't actively terrible. (The writing was, but that's a given.)

....I also still have a horrible sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach TPTB are going to do to Peter Capaldi what they did to Colin Baker....

He was supposed to end his run when Matt Smith finished, then Capaldi came along with his wonderful ideas (there have been rumors about him butting heads with Moffat) and suddenly Mr. Moffat's bruised ego wouldn't let him quit.
And then after the first season with Capaldi was finished, Moffat was supposed to move on. Again, his ego wouldn't let him.
So... now we're stuck. Thankfully, most of the writing this season will be done by other people while he focuses on Sherlock.

(I just want a Moffat-free season. FFS is that too much to ask?)

Yep, now I'm getting flashbacks to JNT. :P

You mean he'd get fired? lol no
Fortunately Peter has too much sway in the industry/BBC. If he leaves, it'll be on his terms.

Plus fans like Peter better than they liked Colin when Colin first took the role, even if some haven't warmed to the writing of 12.

No, that Moffat would actively try to kill the show by intentionally writing it badly. (As opposed to unintentionally doing that now.)

Moffat is still hanging on despite that he's been out of ideas for years.

I know Capaldi is signed on for at least 2 more series and I wish Moffat would leave before Capaldi does because I'd like to see a Moffat-less 12.

It's not even just that Moffat is bad but the show really could use a new take, RTD was getting tiresome by the end of his run too, and Moffat is more then tired by now.
