Will you be driving the car back to NYC? If not, you should look into whether a one-way fee applies. I hear that can get expensive.

One-way plane tickets can be expensive, too, but I imagine it might be cheaper betwee NYC and DC than between, say, Chicago and Los Angeles. If you plan to fly home from DC, then it might all work out, but thus may be the kind of thing you should talk to an actual travel agent about.

Have you looked into trains? Way slower than flying, but possibly comparable to driving and you can nap or read.

I will not. I'll be flying from DC back home to OK. :)

We've looked at trains but they are quite expensive! Which sucks because I've never ridden one.

You ought to look into what the OK-NY-DC-OK round trip by plane would cost all together, then, rather than treating each leg separately. Maybe it won't make a difference, but you should check.
