Weeeell. I liked Luke/Tear as more of a brother-sister sort of relationship, but Asch/Natalia was so well done, IMHO.

I just don't get it, though. Asch wants nothing more than for Luke to stop existing for most of the game. And then in the end, Luke's driving him crazy enough to say things like, "THIS ISN'T ABOUT LOGIC!" before he tries to kill him.

Call me crazy, but that doesn't even REMOTELY equal love.

I never thought about them having a brother/sister type relationship before. I did think their whole romance story was very weak compared to Asch/Natalia, though. But I'm a sucker for the canon relationships in RPGs, so that's probably why I still liked Luke/Tear romance.

Yeah, exactly! I can't say I remember since its been awhile since I beat the game, but I don't think they ever exchanged even remotely kind words to each other. At least, Asch didn't. Not really.

The whole thing reminds me of Zutara from the Avatar fandom or Ed/Roy from FMA fandom. Its what sometimes really gets under my skin about fandoms in general, too. Two characters that hate each other don't usually have secret hot desires to sex each other. Sometimes hate is just... HATE. X_x;

XD It's okay to like Luke/Tear. I like it too-- but I like it more as a brother-sister thing. I think they could have developped it better.

And nope, they never, ever exchange kind words, from Asch's side. And Luke, forever, had too much of a damn inferiority complex to EVER think of Asch in that way EVER. It just.. Doesn't work.

I think hatesex is a fabulous concept, one I plan on employing on one of my characters soon. However, Asch and Luke never, ever, once had that sort of sexual tension in my book. There was too much genuine rawr.

Indeed! It could've definitely been better. Then again, I hold all RPG canon relationships to the standards of how FF9 did it and nothing could ever beat FF9.

I agree with that 100%.

And again, I agree! Good luck, then. XD I guess it's just a personal preference thing. Like most things.

Huh, really, I thought Asch x Natalia was done horribly. It's actually on my list of top ten worst video game romances. Or at least, it was done in a way that I couldn't believe it was going to work or be mutual on Asch's end. Natalia, to me, seemed too much in love with the Asch from seven years ago and not the person he was in the present, and there was no way I saw Asch returning her feelings in any way. The Dark Wings comment about how most of what he talks about is Natalia certainly didn't sell me at all, like the script writers were trying to go, "okay, we know he doesn't look like it, but he really, really does luff her!" Luke x Tear was boring to me, but I liked Anise x Ion a lot.

Maybe my romance sense is off or something.

I didn't say I liked the romance because it had a perfect ending. I thought it was done will BECAUSE of the issues Natalia and Asch had. I dunno, I'm weird? XD I like them as a couple, though I have to agree on what you said. It's very true. Luke/Tear is just cute to me. Nothing special, but a good couple. And I disliked Anise and Ion, so... XD

Screw all of. Jade/Everyone OTP. ;D
