#62. I always feel sad for the people for whom fandom isn't their real life, i.e. their fandom doesn't involve going out, meeting people, and being social while enjoying your fanboy nerd actvities. Being a fan doesn't mean being tied to your computer 24/7--in my case, my fandoms have taken me around the world to meet all kinda cool people and do all kinda crazy stuff. Yours can, too!

ITA. I have met a lot of really fantastic people through fandom that I never would have otherwise, and I think it's cool that we all make plans to attend the same events together and some of us fly from all over just to be together. People (like my dad) say it's creepy -- I say it's awesome.

I don't know, everyone I know thinks I'm some die-hard RoyxEd fan, because I don't read every Elricest fic out there. I'm a proud Elricest fan and all my friends know it, even if I suspect a lot don't believe me - but really, I don't read fic for them because I think 90% of the fandom writes poorly.

Which makes me feel awful, but- it's my pet peeve or something.

I think Ed and Al together is too perfect to let bad fic ruin, whereas I can shrug off poorly written RoyxEd because there is a lot of good fic out there for them.

I love that pic, too. I want to color it in with photoshop at some point. I can send it to you tomorrow if you want? The original's a bit bigger than that.

21: Jason Lutes is possibly the best comics artist alive today. (Tied with Paul Grist, I think, though that may be a controversial choice.) Jar of Fools, Berlin... just stunning. There's almost nobody out there who's even trying to be as good as Jason Lutes.

It's true. I've known for years I was going to study comics in grad school, but I didn't even know about Berlin or Jar of Fools until I took a class on Graphic Histories my senior year. I wrote a massive paper on Berlin and it has since become my all-purpose writing-sample. What sucked about that was when my advisors told me I needed to use a paper about Chris Ware, or someone the admissions boardmembers would likely have heard of.

Man, but I love Jason Lutes. With all my heart.

28. Wasn't there a secret the EXACT opposite of this a month or two ago? How about we just judge on quality rather than length? The number of words or chapters is in no way indicitive of quality.

Not the OP, but I'd like to say it's highly likely L has this type of Diabetes... was it H or I, dunno. But I just read somewhere that a certain type of Diabetes makes people lose weight a whole dang lot. Also, and this part is doubtful to me, apparently raises the, uh... "craving" for sweets. @.@;;

Me too. I think it's a VERY underrated movie right now- in about 10 more years I think people will look back and be able to appreciate it again.
