Too Big (TOO BIG FOR BIG DOG, PERHAPS?)

Don't like PHOENIX WRIGHT?

What's the matter...

Too DEEP for you?

Re: Too Big (TOO BIG FOR BIG DOG, PERHAPS?)

(Anonymous) 2008-01-30 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
WOW its really sad that you think Phoenix wright is Deep about anything, do you even know how a real court works ? even if it was a satire for 'real courts' it still wouldn't be entertaining.
Its a boring game that can be played in under three hours with no real thought behind anything, and the most entertaining thing is the weird looking people that show up from time to time.
And in a court of law none of that would ever happen, Phoenix would have been disbarred on his first day.

51. Iknowrite. Like reading Reborn suddenly makes my IQ drop. Yeah, uh, I know it's not the most intelligent thing ever, can't I just enjoy it anyhow?

T!B: Different tastes and all? I can definitely see why you'd find it boring, but I loved point-and-click and mystery games since my childhood, and Phoenix Wright taps into this very nicely. It's really just like how I think racing games are boring, and shooting games are dull. Yeah. xD;

41. I feel the same.

27. Would you still like the comic if they were human? If your answer is yes, then you're NORMAL! Oh, and by the way, I am a furry and I like Lackadaisy because of the character interactions, not the cat-people.

64. YAY, I FEEL SICK SECRET!!! Devi is awesome, but please try to be a Devi-Tenna hybrid D: Tenna's right, Devi needs to get out more. Good luck being an artist!

28. Writing a short story is a different skill set, but I think long fic is harder in the end because you have to keep it up longer. (*cue adolescent snickering at that sentence*) I can respect that, but it's still discouraging to see people say things like "anything less than 20k is unsatifying" because it tends to come across as "so if you can't produce that you shouldn't even bother".

I dunno about anyone else, but I often find I just don't have time to read something that long, anyway. 10k (about half an hour) is usually my upper limit of "light reading". I'm not against long stuff on principle and will sometimes commit to reading longer things (20-40k) if they are well-recommended, but the prospect of trying to catch up on a long WIP that is already into the hundreds of thousands of words is usually just too daunting. (I raise my eyebrows when a fic author has a single work that surpasses the entirety of the original canon.)

Re: 6, 28

[identity profile] llamaramauk.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I've attempted one long fic, am betaing another for someone else, and have written a few shorts varying from 100 words up to 8000 words. I think they're all equally tough, just in different ways.

I spent 6 hours solid writing a measly 470 word story at the weekend. Heh.

I'll read 'owt if it's good. Length has no real relevance on that score.

I do see the OP's point about unfinished stuff though - that is a bit annoying.

53. Um. Not sure how to say this. But when most guys say they prefer 'curvy' girls, they don't mean that it's okay for you to wobble when you breathe. They mean people like Salma Hayek, not Kirstie Alley. Society's standard of beauty is aimed at a REALISTIC body weight - not a skinny one, not an obese one.

62. This is a scary, scary story.

53, not OP

(Anonymous) 2008-01-30 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I guess I'm an exception to the rule, then, 'cause I find Kirstie Alley much hotter than Salma Hayek. Give me a lush, full-figured woman any day of the week.

And... society's standard of beauty is aimed at a realistic body weight? Seriously? It hasn't been in a long-ass time; as wonderfully voluptuous as she is, Marilyn Monroe would be considered over the ideal weight by the entertainment industry if she were trying to make it today.

Every time I read Fandom Secrets, I think about how easy going and laid back furries are in comparison. Everyone complains about how weird and gross furries are, but I've been to many conventions, both anime and furry, and the anime ones are what scare the shit out of me. I've never seen so much backstabbing and getting bent out of shape over nothing. Even the people I was rooming with would talk shit about someone just cause their cosplay wasn't good enough or they liked the "wrong ship". Anime is just fantasy, it's a story, stop making it into such a big deal!

Also, STOP USING SMILIES IN YOUR SECRETS, ITS FUCKING STUPID AND MAKES YOUR SECRET LOOK LIKE A JOKE! At least there's artistic merit to Post Secret.

OMG, Benjamin Eakeley?

I met him when he was doing regional work at the Shakespeare Theater for New Jersey... he was an actor in a few shows, and I worked in the concessions booth and as an usher. I made him coffee. I saw him twice in Loves Labours Lost, and four times in Illyria.

I'm so glad that other people know who he is now.

Let's hope my other favorite regional-acting-tall-awkward-blond guy does as well for himself (Jake Speck, if anyone cares).

Benjamin Eakeley was adorable and amazing at the ACT production of Sweeney Todd I saw. I nearly cried when I saw the Beadle in the movie because Benjamin is my Beadle now and forever.

I want to see him in more stuff, but I only get to see people when they come to town for traveling productions.
