HEY I LIKE X-MEN. :( Ahahaha but mostly he's the type who won't shut up about how awesome his fandoms are and then I saw your comment and I cracked up.

LOL, What makes this funny is that you have a Fruits Basket icon.

Fruits Basket isn't a contrived action show with bad animation and soap opera dialogue, so it's better than Scryed too. Also, if you have something to say then show your face :|

Dude, this is a comm for anon posting - you can't bitch about someone remaining anon here or claim that you'll discount my comment. Why would you be a member of an anon posting comm otherwise?

As for your accusation, Fruits Basket is a contrived show - the only difference is that it's targeted at mindless thirteen year old girls. The animation quality is poor as well, the frame-rate is low, and it has a considerably worse case of "soap opera dialogue" than sCRYed ever had. It's about shallow, frivolous romance instead of something actually interesting, like survival in a post-apocalyptic society.

Yes, sCRYed is an action-show on a fairly low budget, but it was put out by a top-notch animation studio (you know, they did Mugen no Ryvius, too, but let me guess - that doesn't have enough high school and sakura petals for you). I agree that sCRYed is like X-Men, it's got a very similar set of driving themes -- but even assuming that classifies it as a type of trashy sci-fi, I'll take trasy sci-fi over trashy and poorly-written romance any day.

Fruits Basket is a poorly-planned and poorly-executed fluff-fest. I say this as someone who, yes, did actually watch it. Only one of the characters had any real merit, and the kitch factor ruins any room you had for critical analysis.

I'm willing to admit that there are better shows than sCRYed. Fruits Basket isn't one of them. And I'm not someone who just doesn't watch or enjoy shoujo programming, I just don't like the stuff that's shit.

I wasn't really bitching and I can't find the part where I claimed that I'd discount your comment, I sort of just assume that when people post anon, it's because they're too scared, of what I don't really know, to reveal their identity. If that's how you feel about Fruits Basket, cool. I think it was a nice animation for the first few volumes of a much better manga. Why does the fact that a show is post-apocalypse make it better than something from the romance genre? How many post-apocalypse animu do you think there have been over the years? More than I care to count, and most of them did it a lot better than Scryed. I read a lot of shoujo, and there's also tons of rehashing of plots and character archetypes and whatnot in the shoujo genre, but I honestly don't see a lot of that in Fruits Basket. It's really more a story about family than romance, which is atypical in itself.

I say Scryed is one of the worst shows I've ever seen because the plot never went anywhere, all the characters felt like clones that I had seen a million times before, the show treated it's female characters like garbage, what with the mindless Ryuhou fangirls and Mimori spouting off her stupid, hollow anti-war sentiments, just following people around and pretty much just serving as a handy plot device. Kyogi Mujo's "burning hunger inside" motive for taking over the world was lolarious, and so were most of the Alter powers. That script writing guy, the guy who wouldn't stop shouting about his "treasure balls", wtf. And then Cougar saying Mimori's name wrong? Wasn't funny the first 30 times, sry2say. I only even said anything about the secret because I thought it was dumb to say that Gainax ripped Kamina off of Cougar, when the two characters are... nothing alike. Apart from their both wearing sunglasses?? I just don't see anything beyond some really minor similarities.
