42- ...how is it that you understand that people just like what they like, but you feel the need to spend your days bashing yaoi?

Interesting words from someone who doesn't go the com in question and see what *I* and number 42 actually do there. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't go around "bashing." I open up disscussion and debate topics based upon what I see to be double standards inherent in general fandom. That is all. Besides, I don't spend "all my time there" as you say. I spend a lot of time on the internet hanging out with people of like intests to mine and I spend a lot of time offline doing life-type stuff. I'm generally only "antiyaoi" when FANBRATS SHOVE IT IN MY FACE or I see unfair double standards.

Again, I can't speak for everyone there, but I think that people like you are why the antiyaoi com exists. Why can't we dislike what we dislike? Are we not allowed to? It sure seems that way.

Aha, but how do you know I've never been? I have been before, because I find it so baffling to spend time discussing things you dislike as opposed to things you like. To be fair though, I don't know what you specifically post, hence why I didn't insult you personally in anything I said.

I fully understand what you mean about 'double standards', and the 'good half' of yaoi fans can be just as infuriated (the woman and het bashing is tedious to say the least).

Your attempt to be insulting failed I'm afraid, because I *know* I'm not the type of fan that annoys people who don't like yaoi. I'd never shove anything in anyone's face, or attack anyone for what they don't like. I just don't see the point in getting at people for what they do like.

And some people like a "safe place" to complain. For some of us complaining *is* fun. It's not like the community is any sort of threat to yaoi fandom.

*sigh* Maybe we're misunderstanding each other, of course I don't think it's a threat. ^^; Nor does it bother me is people as quietly complaining without bothering others.

I was just curious about what you said, as it did seem pretty contradictory.

Originally, I was just giving a simple *wave* to someone who, in their secret, mentioned they were on Antiyaoi. By the fandom represented, I think I know who originated the secret.

And suddenly, it would seem "yet another" person who sees "antiyaoi" and is all "Ack! How *dare* such a place exist!!" came up and poked their nose in to whine and to accuse people of spending all their time going around and bashing yaoi.

I've seen this happen more times than I can count. Now, I cannot speak for everyone on antiyaoi, but in my experience there - the majority of members *are* into "live and let live" (ie, they aren't flamers who deliberately go out of their way to provoke yaoi fans). Antiyaoi seems, for the majority, to be a safe place for us to express opinions in fandom that would get us *roasted* anywhere else.

It seems to me that people tend to "shoot first and ask questions later" when it comes to any "anti" com. Sometimes, there's a reason for them existing. Sometimes, people actually *have fun* complaining about stuff, and if it's just harmless complaining on an out of the way community, why is it so *wrong?*

I'll give it to you that it's pretty pointless, but I find much of fandom pretty pointless. Fandomsecrets is pretty damn pointless.

As I said before, I wouldn't have said anything purely on grounds of you being a member of the community, it was only in responce to the comment that you made, I'm sorry you found it so offensive, but again, live and let live, I thought 'what the hell, I'm just ask'.

As far as the comm itself, I'm certainly not screeching 'how dare such a place exist'...if it doesn't bother me and isn't hurting anybody I don't really care. I don't personally think any anti-comms are worth the energy myself (and if I came upon an anti-het comm or similar I'd be banging my head against the desk), but I don't really give it any thought to other people participating in them. It's only if they were promoting genuine homophobia or similar that I would actually get angry.
