LOL. So if I stick a picture of the Mona Lisa on a turd does that make it art? How about if I make it out of skittles?

Once at the museum of contemporary art over this way, they had a whole series on trash. The installations were amazingly huge, and the smaller framed pieces were just amazing. Guess what it consisted of, trash, dead animals and the occasional turd.

I know you're trying really hard to pretend that you know things about art, but you really have no idea. You base what art is by what you think is art. Art isn't subject to your approval. You aren't the boss of art. No matter how important you think your opinions are.

The general consensus is that the intent of art is to communicate an emotional experience to someone else that they can then share empathetically through viewing the art. Some, not all, also contend that art must have aesthetic value. The person who created the exhibit on trash was likely making a statement and did more than just import a pile of trash into the museum and trying to communicate something he or she felt that others might comprehend and experience when viewing said art. Some also argue that art has to be enduring but that's also controversial. However if you look in the toilet before flushing and say "HEY! That looks like a picasso!" it's not art. Sorry. Art is not art just because you want to call it that. If you don't believe me go ask the curator of just about any museum in the world.

The pony is craft, not art. Even the person who made it said she wasn't calling herself an artiste or trying to capture some sort of emotional experience that she hoped to evoke in others. She was making a craft for a friend.

Truthfully I don't have to pretend to know a lot about anything. I just happen to know a lot about a lot of things. It's not about being important. It's about being educated and informed, something you might try.
