1. Why does everyone find the weeping angels so scary?
14. Lol. Weeaboo. No, really. These paintings that you apparently think involve people who are ugly and fat are because of the models used for them. Contrary to whatever your anime sodden brain might believe, that whole look of being rail thin and having perfectly smoothed down hair and glossed lips in the grand scheme of things wasn't a trend that came around until fairly recently. You are what makes me disgusted with anime fans.
40. That's strangely awesome.
48. So much word. Manips scare the hell out of me. I mean, not all manips, but the pornful manips of actors and such, terrifying. My friend and I were discussing them the other evening and we just figured that they'd probably be mentally scarring to the actors if they ever saw them.
67. Is that Young Dracula? My watching of the beeb has landed me watching that.
70. I guess I'm lucky that my offline friends are also my online friends.

1. Yeah. I pretty much knew what I was getting into when I watched that episode as well. But everyone was telling me how scary it was. I want a shirt that says, 'The Angels Have the Phonebox' now. Lol.

I guess if I was sitting around by myself watching it in a dark room I could find it scary since you don't really expect these things to suddenly appear behind you with teeth bared and such. I really think the Doctor makes things worse with his whole, 'Don't blink! Blink and you're dead!' But then again, I did know about what I was watching and what to expect beforehand so that probably did lessen the overall scare factor for me.

I tend to have everything spoiled for me. It's not really a big deal, but yeah I can imagine first time watching it and hardly expecting to suddenly see this angel standing an inch behind you ready to attack ... that could be frightening.

But yeah, the bared teeth didn't help things...

Re: 14
I am an anime fan, as well. It's just the weeaboo, trollish cunts like that who make me really almost ashamed to admit I like it.

*reads comments* Oh.
Yeah, fortunately, I didn't get too spoiled, aside from knowing there would be creepy stone angels in the ep.
I think it was the same thing that made "The Empty Child" so scary for me--there's this beautiful, nightmarish quality of taking something that is strange and maybe just a tiny bit creepy, but not threatening in-and-of itself (a kid in a gasmask looking for his mother, a statue of an angel), and instilling it with a sort of nameless, almost illogical dread, largely centered around being slowly stalked and the "don't let it touch you!" mentality.
When I tried to explain why the episode had me so freaked out to my non-Whovian friends, all that came out was some gibberish that sounded like me describing a particularly bad nightmare.

It could also be the fact that it really takes a lot to unnerve me. I can understand why it would be scary but at the same time I don't find it all that bad. I had friends telling me about it and talking about how they lost sleep over it and then when I sat down and watched it, it really wasn't anything that bad in my opinion. But yeah, I get the whole concept of something that's seemingly harmless being a creeping threat.
I think describing it as being like a nightmare is pretty accurate. I know if I dreamt about something like the weeping angels I'd probably wake up freaked out and maybe that's what's so frightening to people. It's like a childhood nightmare or something.
