No, I'd call you young and ignorant.

A good class and a good teacher are both supposed to push you out of your comfort zone and challenge you to do things that widen your sphere of experience. And sometimes you'll end up doing things that are boring or frustrating.

Not improving is your choice, of course. But it's not one I particularly understand.

Since when did just enjoying my hobby make me ignorant? God forbid I have opinions and such. Because I'm young, I'm getting the feeling you're assuming that I would hate to do anything that required actual effort.

I'm not understanding why my personal choice to remain uneducated seems to be insulting you and the art world so badly.

Your opinions are based upon a lack of education. Ergo, ignorant.

Insulted? Hardly. Just a bit sad.

... my opinion that I find one style of art more appealing than another is based on a lack of education. I would understand if this opinion was about politics or government. But a style of art I like better? No. That's a dumb argument. Because the wealth of knowledge I may or may not know does not affect how I feel about a style of art. Unless there is some magical style I've never heard about that I would absolutely LOVE on discovery of it, your statement does not make sense.

I honestly don't know how to explain myself anymore, because all I'm going to receive is the "you're young and don't know anything" argument.

... in case you haven't figured it out yet, your attitude is what's getting you wanked at here. The fact that you're so close-minded that you prefer anime - without necessarily having even attempted anything else - is shallow and ignorant. It would've been a lot different if you'd said something like, "Well, AFTER trying out this and this and this style of art, I prefer anime because ... blablahblah whatever." Because then, you'd have at least tried out different styles. Your opinion isn't informed at all, and you don't seem to care. (And yes, such a thing as an 'informed opinion' exists).

You then make a big deal about how it's ONLY a hobby, you don't want to bother taking an art class, ect. It doesn't matter if it's a hobby. No one will take you seriously if you agree with such an obviously ignorant, troll secret and THEN say that the anime-centered style is the only thing you've really tried.

Because the wealth of knowledge I may or may not know does not affect how I feel about a style of art.

Really? How do you know that? How can you know whether or not you'll like something until you try it? What if you learned something about a particular style of art that made you feel more passionate about it?

Which is basically why I've never taken an art class - they basically forbid anything anime-influenced. But in the eyes of the art world, this apparently makes me a terrible, terrible person. 8(

Translation: I only like the anime style, and because art classes would expect me to LEAVE MY COMFORT ZONE, I won't bother seeing what else is out there. Even though I may actually like it. As a hobby or not.

TL;DR: ignorant weeaboo. :(
