Compartmentalization, anon. There's a lot of horrible shit going on in the world, but being so horrified by it you can't function isn't productive for anyone. So you learn to put some things on the emotional back burner and deal with them at a later date (or not at all) and prioritize. If this is really difficult, then it might be time to take a break from social media and the news. If it's still difficult, then it might be time to talk with your doctor about depression.

Then, when you can, you sit down and figure out some low level, feasible things you personally could do to remedy some of the injustice in the world. Maybe it's donating canned goods and toiletries to the local homeless shelter. Maybe it's political activism on whatever level you can handle. Maybe it's writing letters to your elected officials. Maybe it's volunteering at the animal shelter, soup kitchen or nursing home. You do what you can even if it's small and it doesn't feel like enough, because it's far better than stressing out over how awful the world is and doing nothing.
