(Anonymous) 2015-07-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)Mikasa is one of the strongest humans along with Levi. I'd even say Mikasa is physically stronger while Levi Is just faster. Levi has more experience but Mikasa is younger and has a lot more room to grow. However fandom will always trashes her, treats her as a joke, or downplay her while raising Levi up as an untouchable badass. They are basically the same character except one was born male and one was born female. Yet the difference in how fandom treats them is huge.

Canonically I also wouldn't say there's any proof of how strong Mikasa is compared to Levi - she's quite strong, but she comes nowhere close to Levi's titan kill count since he's a veteran and she's not.
They're also very different in terms of personality. While your point about their treatment in fandom is valid, canon is at fault for a lot of it imo. Besides, she's probably the second most popular character after Levi (especially in Japan), at least based on merchandise... So it's not like she's getting totally shafted.
(and btw, snk stands out in part because there is more than one exceedingly capable and badass female character. And there's no fanservice either)
