Cosigning on this mostly to say how fucking much I want a legit female Indiana Jones

(Lara Croft doesn't count because I don't think Tomb Raider is very good + tonally it's completely different)

How would the jurassic world character be more like Indiana Jones than Lara Croft?

Sorry, I should have been more clear that I was primarily responding to the bit about the female version of Indiana Jones, and not so much specifically to the Jurassic World stuff.

Tomb Raider movies were shit, but some of the games were really interesting.
It's been what... 20 years and Laura Croft is still the only example people have of a badass female adventurer? That should say something.

Relic Hunter series is not bad.

But contrary to her male counterparts, she's pretty much all badass. The male adventurers all tend to be at least partial idiots.

Samus Aran is a bounty hunter in space. "Space bounty hunter" is fairly close to "adventurer" if you squint a bit.

I haven't seen it yet, but judging from the trailers, the movie adaptation of The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec from a few years ago was trying to do this (plus shades of Tintin and The Mummy): Blanc-Sec is an early 1900s author/journalist trying to find a cure for her sister, and apparently investigates tombs, dons disguises, and somehow a pterodactyl is involved... It got decent reviews, apparently.

I have seen this movie and it is ... odd, very odd, but quite enjoyable. The mummies are amazing (and hilarious), as is Adele herself.

I've been meaning to watch that!

I quite like that movie! It's darling and yes, Adele is great.
