Re: Stress making stupid things funny?

Okay, this makes me feel better. It has just never really happened to me before. I mean, I've had times where I've laughed more or found something a little funnier, but never before have I found myself laughing at something that I actually think is ridiculous.

It used to happen to me semi-regularly, since my sleeping patterns are the first thing to go when I'm stressed, and I'm somewhat prone to depressive episodes. There was a period where I was staying awake for forty hour stretches while sleeping for about fourteen hours in between them, and it went on for a couple of weeks, and towards the end of it I think I was pretty much constantly hysterical. Laughing, crying, zoning out completely, losing bits of time. That one took some time to get settled from.

So, yes. If you're currently undergoing a fairly intense period of stress, more than you're used to, or just coming at a bad time generally, some mild hysteria/laughing fits/crying fits/occasional zoning are all things that can happen, and they're pretty normal. If they start getting out of control, though, happening very regularly or intensely, or beginning to frighten you, then I'd go to a doctor. On their own, they just happen when you're particularly over-tired, but if they become regular it's usually a sign you're heading more deeply off-kilter.
