Their specific statement was that you're like Spain in World War 2, which was a fascist state and sympathetic to the Nazis although officially neutral

So, yes, it's Nazis versus Commies, but the specific analogy was that you're on the side of and sympathetic to the Nazis even if you're officially neutral

Again, I don't think it's fair. But it's a very well-constructed analogy.

I heard they exposed some rich dude paying for a rent boy, then the rich dude organized an astroturfing campaign to get the piece pulled by the advertizing department over the heads of the editorial department. That is an appalling abuse of wealth and privilege just to bury an embarrassing story.

fyi the rich guy was blackmailed by the prostitute to settle some housing dispute, the rich guy didn't use his wealth and power to fuck over some poor person, and so the prostitute contacted gawker

the story got pulled because people complained, because wtf that's a gross violation of privacy and gawker tried to save face (after getting all those click$ fir$t of cour$e)
