That's funny, because part of the reason I've stuck around is it's less judgmental here than a lot of other places I've been.

Same.

There is no 'completely' safe space. Assholes are going to be everywhere because people are everywhere and a lot of people are assholes. There's no avoiding it.

But all in all, I don't feel like the ratio is that bad. There is definite unpleasantness, but I've never felt that it was worse than any other major fandom space.

And yes, there are certain issues that are more likely to cause wank than others, but as you said, I think that's pretty par for the course with fandom in general.
