I'm glad that I don't pay attention to the fandom. I can just enjoy (or not enjoy) the show without having to deal with other people's opinions about it.

I haven't seen SM or SMC (they're on my list but pretty far down so idk if I'll ever get around to it) but this is sort of my experience with fandom in general. And when I do want to squee about something it sometimes gets a lukewarm reception from people who don't think it's good enough (I guess I'm shallow, though I don't feel shallow in most of my media consumption).
