But if they keep quiet, how do we know they are there?

I'm wondering how many users here would actually say, vote for one of the American Republican candidates currently out on the table. Like when push came to shove, they vote the Republican candidate. From my experience here, I hear a lot more "bah I hate all the candidates, Democrat or Republican" or people who say they are moderates, far more than I've ever heard anyone discussing their conservatism. I think it's happened a time or two but I really don't think it's been more than that.

I could be inflating the numbers in my mind but I've had lots of conversations with people who say they usually don't bother talking about these issues around here because they go against the accepted opinions but decided to join in on just the one discussion.

I've also had a sense for a long time that people underestimate the number of conservative people on the internet in general. That came from my fundie days years ago when I would pick up on things that people without my background might miss and then being surprised by people thinking there was no one like that in their community.

I definitely have that sense, too, that there are more conservatives (however you want to define that term) people on the Internet than the liberals (however you want to define that term) would think. Given that a lot of liberals act like they think we are all WASP Westboro Baptist Bible-thumpers or smth

...a lot of people on FS wouldn't vote either, as we're not Americans.

Not an American either, but it seemed apparent to me that AYRT was using it as an example.

I read 'say' in the above instance as 'for example'.
