Re: "FS is extremely skewed liberal" - Agree or disagree?

Oh, bullshit. It's not shame, it's being "tired of getting dogpiled." Ain't no one got time for that.

You mean like when conservatives tried to make the word liberal a political insult, and called liberals unpatriotic? Yeah, can't imagine how conservatives bear it. They are in the wrong, and know it. Hence the suppression tactics towards liberals and the screaming tantrums and counterclaims when it doesn't work.

DA

That's not conservative, though, that's just crazycakes. And the mud-slinging isn't as one-sided as you're making it out to be, anon.

Or when liberals define anyone who dissents from whatever the Correct Flavor of the Day is as a racist sexist homophobe in an effort to stifle debate?

Well, congratulations. Enjoy your echo chamber.

When you dismiss human rights under catch phrases like Flavour of the day you can't expect anyone to take you seriously.

and if you think it's a "human right" to force someone to celebrate something that violates their deeply held religious beliefs, then I have a hard time taking you seriously.

Get back to me when you're defending the right of Westboro Baptist Church to make a gay print shop owner print their flyers and signs.

da

lol "force someone to celebrate something," is baking a cake forcing them to celebrate? odd that they would get into the cake-baking business if they don't like being "forced" to bake cakes for a living.

and you're an absolute idiot if you think those two cases are comparable. hint: hate speech is not a group protected by discrimination laws.

Re: "FS is extremely skewed liberal" - Agree or disagree?

"free speech" is certainly protected.

And it's not just cake. It's photographers, it's caterers, it's florists, it's actual venues.

My question is, why would you want someone to bake a cake for you who was opposed to your marriage? Wouldn't you be afraid they'd spit in it or something?

Okay, I want you to understand this. We are not agreeing with you because we're ignoring you. We just think you are too dumb to debate with now. Okay, good.

Well, that didn't take long.

Re: "FS is extremely skewed liberal" - Agree or disagree?

free speech is protected from government oppression. this is neither difficult nor complicated. free speech and its concepts have nothing to do with what a business chooses to do.

... yes, and all of those people have to do their jobs in-line with discrimination laws. a restaurant owner can't put a "no blacks" sign on his building, a scientist hiring an assistant can't say "no women, they're bad at math," and a bakery/florist/caterer/whomever cannot refuse a customer based on his or her sexual orientation.

that question is not relevant. I could ask the same if someone sued a restaurant with a "no blacks" sign, why would you want to eat at a restaurant that's run by a racist? the answer is: you don't, but what they're doing is illegal and they should suffer the consequences for violating the law.

Re: "FS is extremely skewed liberal" - Agree or disagree?

Okay, so the gay print shop owner is engaged in discriminating against a customer for their religious viewpoint, and discrimination laws also apply to religion. You can't refuse to hire someone because they're a Jew, for example, or have a sign saying "no Muslims allowed."

So I guess WBC can sue that print shop owner.

a gay print shop owner would not be saying no to the customer because of their religion, but because of the message. so no. if it could be found that he routinely turns away all christian customers who want signs made for their church, that might be one thing. refusing to print signs with slurs or whatever other hateful speech on them is quite another, and falls under the right to refuse service in the "no shirt/no shoes" does.
