This is the exact same thought I had. Cats don't think they are submissive ever. Cats think they own you. A well trained dog will think you are the boss. A cat thinks you were put on this earth to feed them or bring toys to them or pet them when they want to be petted.

Yeah but if you get toxoplasmosis, one of the things it does to you is make you more submissive. And you can get it from a parasite that lives in cats.

Ah. I can only speak from personal experience. Our cat was in charge. She paid attention to you when she wanted something, and would get annoyed if she didn't get it. Otherwise she just ignored us. The cat we had when I was a kid was the same way.

I think it really depends on the individual animal, since a lot of cats are very codependent/submissive. I've never owned a cat that didn't submit to me, but I've met plenty who hadn't been trained properly (or at all) that wouldn't submit to anyone.
