I hate them because they alter my experience of the rest of the story pretty drastically. I love going into something with fresh eyes, not expecting anything at all, so that I can have truly honest reactions to it. And that includes stuff like knowing which characters are fan favourites/most hated, too.

If I know a character is going to die or betray someone, for example, it's pretty much permanently ruined my perception of that character. Which sucks, honestly.

Though of course there ARE things where I deliberately read spoilers for because I know I won't really care about the story either way. So I'm not completely melodramatic about this!
