The guy who played Ilyn Payne got cancer and was told he was going to die (hence why he's no longer in the show). He was a massive fan of the books, even before the show, and he asked GRRM about how things would end, since he thought he was going to die before the books would be finished.

GRRM didn't tell him a damn thing.

I do not believe this same man is going to be honest about spoilers with the HBO guys. If you can look a dying man in the eye and deny him any knowledge about plans for a story he loves and may never see finished, you're not going to tell people who will immediately fucking blog about it.

True, tbh. He could just be fucking with everyone.
That is why I don't get why people don't just let the show be the show and the books be the books. If you enjoy one over the other then just stay in your lane and let other people enjoy whatever they want.

The fandom encompasses both the show and books though. When your favourite book character gets portrayed terribly in the show, it can be disheartening seeing a huge swath of the show fandom bashing them to death. This is why it's difficult to "stay in your lane".

The HBO show runners know everything GRRM planned. He told them in case something happened to him (He's an old man, you know.) As we've seen, the showrunners have made changed and added things to the story but they're sticking to the story mostly. They're just improving it with more sex and boobies.

(That last part is a joke but, without harping on it too much, they really need to stop it with the rape stuff and I say that as someone who isn't bothered by rapes in media.)

no they don't. it's fine as it is.
