Well, it's based off of TE Lawrence's book, Seven Pillars of Wisdom, which is a recounting of his campaign and there weren't exactly a lot of women there. Certainly not enough for an adaptation of quite a long book to include them as characters.

The word "she" only appears 63 times. The word "woman" a mere 19.

In contrast, "him" appears 1077 times. " He " (with the spaces) appears 1484 times.

SA

I should point out that, sadly, quite a few of those "she's" are also referring to the camels....

Oh, noooo. That made me laugh.

I'm gonna just go ahead and say World War One was pretty sexist. 10 million military personnel and 7 million civilian casualties, mostly men. It left a nasty demographic mark on a bunch of countries that suddenly had a gender imbalance in their population.

I don't know if this is the response you wanted, but I laughed aloud.

Someone doesn't know the meaning of a word. Or does and is being MRA about it.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm really curious what you find MRA-ish about the comment you replied to. I don't see it.

"Men are discriminated against because only they get killed in wars!Women have it easy in comparison" - completely ignoring the impact on civilians of war on your own soil - ask the Belgians. Somewhat similar to "only men have to do hard physical jobs! They are disadvantaged in comparison to female privileged desk workers" - completely ignoring the international situation in which much hard rural labour is done by women

(Anonymous) 2015-07-24 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
So... wait. Are you saying that most WWI casualties WEREN'T men? Or are you saying it's bad manners to point out that they were? I'm confused.

AYRT is saying that, although the statement is true, the underlying implications which the poster means to draw from it are not. The underlying narrative which it implies is flawed, even though the statement is not.

Which is fairly obvious from reading the post in question, which in turn leads me to suspect that you're not arguing in good faith here.
