I like recursion. Conspiracy theory websites are frequented by people on government payrolls, whose job is to spread false conspiracy theories so people are less likely to believe in real conspiracies. (It does seem like the kind of thing China would do.)

The Internet Research Army is totally a thing. (A Russian thing, apparently, but a thing, nonetheless.)

Yeah there was a huge piece in the New York Times about it. Weirdly I was just thinking about it earlier today.
