Favorite in the sense that it is the only one I actually believe in is the one the FBI and the federal government played a part in and likely planned MLK's assassination.

This is one probably only held by me: the Washington Post has been paid off by Metro to wrote favorably about it, evem in the face of gross incompetence or tragedy (see: day after that woman died of smoke inhalation, the front of the site story was about how happy everyone was that Metro was up and running and they love it and feel so safe, which, bullshit.)

I like recursion. Conspiracy theory websites are frequented by people on government payrolls, whose job is to spread false conspiracy theories so people are less likely to believe in real conspiracies. (It does seem like the kind of thing China would do.)

That double-digit inflation in the USA in the 1970's was consciously engineered by the Federal Reserve, so that the minimum wage would drop to half a living wage in real terms; forcing the working class to live on annual earned-income-credit "tax refunds" and dropping the price of labour; so that fewer jobs would be lost to dead-weight loss and/or foreign competition. But they failed to see that this would slow the velocity of money, screw up perceptions of the value of labour, and make the economy less robust.

Or, you know, that the European centre-right parties and centre-left parties are intentionally refusing to help the Greek government because Syriza is a radical left party. (Which may well be true and is broadly believed.)

Or that wealthy Western European bankers are trying to engineer a Golden Dawn takeover in Greece for reasons.

The best conspiracy theories are the ones which fit the facts and could be true.

the "philadelphia experiment" is great in a ridiculous scifi premise way– people being melted into the ship, people turning inside-out, mental breakdowns, it would make great horror movie material
