Well... it looks cheaper because it is? Japanese films don't ever have the budget that Hollywood films do. And though they can be really amazing at CGI and such in theory, without the budget, it's never going to look quite as realistic.

I'm not too bothered by levels of CGI. If it must be used, it generally looks more or less the same to me (as in, slightly fakey, but I can get over it). I'll definitely see the Attack on Titan film, though I'm more concerned about it being melodramatic and cheesy in a way that I think can work for anime/manga, but doesn't translate well into real life. Meh, either way, I'm sure it'll be entertaining.

Re budget: +1

I don't get why people expect productions with a very limited market to have a similar quality as big budget Hollywood films (which, you know, have an assured market in the whole word).
