There are one of two possibilities here.

- OP read things correctly, which makes the celeb kinda creepster (no free pass for the rich and famous).

- OP misread things and then went on to construct a whole thing around it, which makes OP kinda creepster.

Either way, it's creepsters all the way down. And I still call shenanigans.

Why? People check each other out all the time. It's not creepster, it's human.

God, people are weirdly puritanical lately.

It's human to look, but conspicuous ogling is creepy.

doesn't "checking out" usually refer to looking? like that one up-and-down glance?

Checking somebody out is "creepster" now? Wow, I must be Mephistopheles, then. e_e

(Anonymous) 2015-07-25 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, do you mean you're evil because you check people out a lot, or do you mean you're Mephistopheles in a more Faustian sense where you tempt everyone else into being creepy because they can't help checking you out

[personal profile] raspberryrain 2015-07-25 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The first, but it can be both.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-25 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If the person you're checking out can tell you're doing it AND that you like what you see, then yes, you're being a creepster.

How is creepster even a word

Re: 1.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-26 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
It probably happened because a lot of people refuse to acknowledge that certain behaviors of theirs aren't as harmless or funny as they believe them to be.

Mmmm, lookin' fine, anon, sittin' at home in your torn sweats on a Saturday night! Are those the ones that say, "JUICY"?

I am turned on despite myself

By this definition, flirting is creepy. In which case, pass me a big ol' bowl of that creepy stuff

Re: 3.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-25 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I do wonder how, in OP's world, people ever really get together.

(Case in point, myself, as someone who irrationally & unfortunately tends to feel that way about myself, and who as a result has never really got together)

If you're flirting with someone and that someone is flirting back, then no, it's not creepy. If you're hitting on someone who isn't responding or responding negatively, then yes, it's creepy. You seem to be having a real problem figuring out how not to be a dick in social situations, or you're pretending that you can't tell the difference between fun interactions with people and making people uncomfortable.

I'm pretty sure you know the difference and that you wouldn't actually want to be in a situation where someone who frightens you and whose attentions you do not want for whatever reason insists upon undressing you with their eyes or hitting on you.

And that applies to the posted scenario how?

You've moved the goalposts into an entirely different sport.

....your semi-roleplaying with actually creepier tbh

I can't parse this response. Sorry.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-26 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh please, it depends on the context. I'm assuming the OP was already giving the actor some warmth in that direction. I'm not getting non-consensual vibes here you know.

Checking someone out is creepy?

I guess it sort of depends on how it's done, but it isn't always.
