What is the elevator pitch on that?

Nextwave is a 12 volume self-contained Marvel comic that can be found in two collected volumes, and has it's own theme song. Despite being Marvel, it is not really connected to the main Marvel universe, and can thus be enjoyed as a stand alone comic, without needing to know about events happening in the larger continuity.

Next Wave follows a team of five super heroes powered individuals who originally worked for a group called H.A.T.E. (Highest Anti-Terrorism Effort), only to found out that they were actually working for the terrorists. In response, they stole a flying airplane thing, and run around blowing stuff up.

They fight things like the koala bears of death:

The series is pretty heavy on the black comedy, so if that's not your thing, I'd avoid the series; non of the characters are very PC, but they're all fun to watch, as they take on Dirk Anger, and try and stop the terrorists from destroying the world.

Oh god no, it sounds like one of those comics for people that hate comics. No, just no.

Can you explain what you mean by that? Because love comics, and I loved Nextwave.

No. I don't feel up to having this argument right now. You do know what I mean, the way you phrased your response shows it. I'm not going to be convinced to pick it up, sorry.

No, I really don't, or else I wouldn't have asked. I just genuinely enjoy Next Wave and I genuinely enjoy other comics, and I don't see what the issue is?

Not anon from above, but I can kinda see where they are coming from. It does sound like it is trying to be the antithesis of what goes on in regular comics. The sort of thing that would appeal to someone who is trying to show that they aren't into regular comics.

I have not read it, but as I understand it, it consists heavily of two arguably offensive things:
1) Extremely retconny did-not-do-the-research flashbacks.
2) Much kicking of things which then implausibly explode.
