Are you saying... it's not possible to make a trailer that accurate reflects the atmosphere and basic plot of a film without spoilers? Or just in the case of Magic Mike?

Oh I think it is possible, just the people on tumblr don't. Anything even close to what goes on in a movie gets them screaming about spoilers even if it is just the most generalized hint.

I personally hate spoilers and don't think they need to be in trailers, unless obviously it's a plot element that happens very early on. I've noticed that especially recently, trailers seem to spoil more and more, which is a trend I hate. But obviously generalized things can't be helped, like say, a clip of the final battle fight in a boss movie or something, that might inadvertently "spoil" who isn't dead yet.

It's just, it isn't the director who makes the trailers, it's people who try to make a successful trailer. I'm not the thread OP but I hate misleading trailers, too, but I guess their main purpose is to get butts in theater seats.
