How did you respond? Did you try to ignore them or did you make smiley faces too?

The reason I ask is because I once made awkward eye contact for like a second with an actor onstage in the middle of a rape scene(!) (in Othello) and it was so fucking weird and uncomfortable. We both averted eyes immediately but it was awkward. I tried to avoid any eye contact with him after that so I just kept looking at his general direction without actually looking at him, if that makes sense.

Now, try watching Othello without looking at Othello.

I was once in the front few rows of aa Mighty Boosh concert and Julian Barratt made repeated eye contact with me. Apparently he's known for this. It was surprisingly unnerving.

If it had happened during the rape scene of a play, multiply that by a thousand. Wowzer.

Well the stage was touching distance from where I was sitting, so looking away wasn't an option.
I tried to focus on the other actors but dude had a lot of solo scenes. Also, looking not at their faces would have meant looking at their crotches because the stage was high. I think I made an awkward polite face. So probably looked constipated. Sexy.
