Thank you for getting my point. There's nothing wrong with older people in fandom, but I feel uncomfortable adults and kids that have big age gaps in comparison to me. I had no idea people would be so upset about this.

It's more how you presented it. "trying to be cool"? Really? Most people of any age who are in fandom are there because they're having fun.
It's especially funny to get annoyed about it on tumblr, where the level of interaction is often pretty low. Oh no, somebody who's over 30 just reblogged a photoset you reblogged from somebody else which has 10k notes. Ohhh nooooo.

This. There's really no coolness points to be had here. Chances are people are following because they just like what you have to say. They probably haven't even noticed your age.

Refusing to follow older people is kind of just shooting yourself in the foot. You might be missing out on some fun fandom stuff.

It's especially ironic when you consider that there are plenty of 30+ content creators on tumblr, too. I wonder if she'll not follow somebody who draws amazing art, or who writes great fics, just because they're over 30?
The whole thing is ridiculous.
