Do that many people on tumblr mention their age before following a blog? And is the level of interaction so high that it's equivalent to hanging out? Because I never got that impression.

I always saw it more as a concentrated fandom dump site where you can find blogs with things that interest you, I'm not sure I'd even notice someone's age unless it was all they talked about.

Perhaps the ayrt is on tumblr to find "cool" peers to look up to and needs to know what they are like irl. Me, I just like tumblr for the prettiness and commentary, age might roughly correlate with maturity of insight but nooooottt always.
