Okay, firstly where are you meeting these hordes of annoying Marvel fans?

Second, how do you know it will be good? Personally, I'm petrified for Civil War.

I know a lot of annoying Marvel fans :c
I mean I don't mind Marvel but dear heavens I wish that in our fandom space we could occasionally talk about fandoms which /aren't/ the MCU and how perfect and hot the actors are.

Even though I'm kind of burned out on Marvel I still really want Civil War to be good because Cap's my fave and I am totally convinced it will be a disaster and I will have to start throwing things at the screen.

As I said before, I dread the magacast in Civil War. I just want it to be a Steve-centric story.

I don't understand. Can't you talk about other fandoms by going outside the MCU fandom space? Why do you expect people in a fandom space for a specific fandom to talk about other fandoms?

Because it's not a specific fandom space. These are mostly my IRL geek friends, so it's a completely multifandom space, which is influenced by how many of the crowd are currently obsessing with a given fandom.
Sometimes we have moments of talking about other stuff, but it always inevitably cycles back to squeeing about the MCU. I wait in vain for the day when a new fandom will overtake them like wildfire, and meanwhile am mostly alone in my anime-fandom corner.

Have you ever heard/seen the phrase "On your left, DC"? I have. Many many many many many times.

Sorry I don't mean to snark at you, but yes, Marvel fans can be very smug.

Personally speaking, like half of the fandom seemed to have gotten a lot more obnoxious after AOU.
For an entire month straight, it was only "WHEADON IS LITERALLY THE DEVIL!!!
HAWKGUY SHOULDNT HAVE WIFE AnD KIDS OMG EW WHEADON WHAT DA FUCK!!!
BRUCE/NAT IS AN AWFUL PAIIRNG AND IF YOU LIKE IT YOURE A SHITTY HUMAN BEING AND AN ABUSE-APOLAGIST! AND YOU RUINED THE FANDOM 4EVER!!!!
OMG WHY DIDNT BUCKY MAKE A CAMEO WHEADON MEET ME IN THE PIT YOU DONUT SHAPED FUCKBOY!!!!"

Granted, it's recently gotten a lot calmer and nicer, but holy shit there was soooo much bitching. I don't think the MCU fandom is the worst by any means, but when they mad and pissy they WILL let you know and they won't stop for weeks.

Not OP, but i see a shitton of annoying Marvel fans on /co/. Yes it's 4chan what do you expect blah blah, but I've been on /co/ for years and it used to be well behaved and everyone was just there to talk comics - and cartoons - even when the MCU was a powerhouse. Now? I see MCU fans coming into DC threads to derail the topic and be smug.

[personal profile] ex_mek82 2015-07-27 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Are we reading the same /co/? Because most of the threads I see on /co/ are usually bellyaching and griping about Marvel movies being awful than anything else, especially after AOU came out.

(Anonymous) 2015-07-27 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I don't go into MCU threads so it's very possible I'm missing it. The most i see is the offhand comments that MCU and DCCU discussion needs to e banned or sent to /tv/ because they are invading everything. But like i said, I mostly go in DC related threads and without fail there will be a MCU/Marvel fan trying to stir shit and it's pretty damn irritating.
