Hahaha, chiming in with all the people who are going, "Why do you think Civil War is going to be good?" The cast of that film terrifies me. I loathed the bit of the comic arc I read and even if Marvel changes the story drastically I can't imagine them making a decent film with a cast that massive. AOU was the first Marvel film I genuinely got bored during, and what we know about Civil War is not giving me any hope that it will be any better.

Then again, maybe I'm unnecessarily pessimistic. (I will readily admit that I wanted Cap 3 to be "The Steve and Bucky reunion tour 2k16.")

Oh, and I rarely see people who have no issues with the films. I mean, those people have to exist because the fandom is gigantic (and fandom includes all kinds), but I'm not sure those people are the majority?

Then again I'm probably not the best person to ask.

yes but imagine Infinity War. Every character will get exactly one line in that movie.

(I will readily admit that I wanted Cap 3 to be "The Steve and Bucky reunion tour 2k16.")
I can't quite understand why that's not what we're getting. It would have been great.

I would not even be surprised if a couple of the characters don't get to talk. They just stand in the background and make faces at each other.

I don't mind large casts, but you have to be careful with them. I think it's generally safer to stick to say...four or five characters and give them all a nice chunk of screen-time and character development than to try to shove thirty characters into a story and expect it to somehow work out. I can't imagine Civil War or Infinity War being anything other than a mess.

See, considering how important Bucky is to Steve, it would make SO much sense to have Cap 3 focus on them. The fact that Marvel seems to be going in an entirely different direction has me worried about the future of the MCU.

But again, I guess we have to wait and see. Maybe Civil War will surprise us all. (I doubt it, but I've been wrong before!)

Yes, please, can't we have the Steve and Bucky Show, instead of angst and infighting and blah blah blah. The comic arc (i haven't read it, but have read about it/had it summarized for me by bigger fans) just sounds horrifying. I don't want to see that on the screen.
*sigh*
*crosses everything*

Well...I DO feel like Marvel will have to change some things. I'm not sure the registration arc would work in the movieverse yet.

Maybe that's exactly what they'll try to pull off, but if they do I think it will fail.

If Bucky has a pretty big part in the film, maybe it won't be so bad.

That said, I would've rather had 'Steve and Bucky are reunited and it feels so good' instead and will mourn the fact that film will probably never happen now.

I was hoping for the Steve and Bucky reunion tour 2k16 too, but I'm reserving judgement until the movie is actually out. Most fans swore GotG and Ant Man were going to suck, after all, and they're among my favorites in the franchise now.

I was somewhat apprehensive about the bloated cast list, and the way it seemed to be turning into Avengers 2.5: Iron Man 4. However, I'm determined to be positive. We really don't know what the movie is actually going to be like, and I ended up enjoying AoU a lot.

I'm hoping for more Steve, more Bucky, more Ant Man, Rumlow being a bastard, and Steve and Bucky's reunion. And if mcertain fanon gets jossed, I think I can forgive the movie a lot.

I'm really looking forward to what Bucky and Crossbones are going to be like in the MCU.

Yea, I can see where you're coming from. I'm not determined to hate the film (and would rather not; the MCU has been a lot of fun for me and I want to see it succeed), I'm just...cautious and kind of wary given the little info we have. (And I do realize we have very little, and Marvel can still surprise us. Things do not need to be the same as comic canon.)

I even agree with you on GOTG; that film was fantastic. Ant-Man I haven't seen yet, but I'll get around to it eventually. I've heard mixed reviews, but I am also one of the ten people who prefer the first Captain America to most the other MCU films, so my opinions don't always match fandoms.

I didn't get much enjoyment out of AOU, but it had moments. I'm hoping Civil War takes more from Winter Soldier than AOU or Avengers.

Which fanon do you hope gets jossed?

ayrt

Helpless, completely broken, childlike woobie Bucky Barnes.

And the "Rumlow's not a bad guy, really he's not" stuff I run across in various places.

Those two are the big ones.

See, I love Bucky and can kinda see where people are coming from with the 'broken' thing (wouldn't call him COMPLETELY broken though), but he's not helpless (...well, again, in a way I suppose I could see that as TWS because literally all he did was follow orders and if he started to question his mission or do anything his captors didn't like they would just erase his memory; he couldn't really escape, but of course he's extremely skilled and can mostly take care of himself if he's given the chance) and though he seemed like a bit of blank slate as The Winter Soldier, I wouldn't exactly call him childlike. Bucky is changed now, but I think he'll (mostly) go back to being his 'normal' self eventually. (With a lot of baggage and emotional trauma, but you know...that's life.)

I have never seen "Rumlow isn't a bad guy" though. Back when I was in fandom people wrote Rumlow as a horrible rapist and a sadistic fuck.
